Vail Mountain: What You Need To Know 2022-23 Season

Vail welcomes guests from all over the world to ski and snowboard Vail Mountain.  And, while we are lucky that this experience takes part outside in the fresh open mountain air, we are still committed to doing our part to keep our guests and employees safe and combat the spread of COVID-19.

Please note that all of our policies are subject to change based on the ever-changing public health conditions and we will follow public health guidelines.  For information on local guidelines, visit www.eaglecountycovid.org. For state guidelines, visit https://covid19.colorado.gov/.

Mountain Access

We will NOT have a mountain reservation system this season and will load lifts and gondolas at normal capacity, but we are limiting tickets sales throughout the 2022-23 season to prioritize the mountain experience for our guests.  Guests are strongly encouraged to secure their lift access in advance.  Secure your lift access during these dates by pre-purchasing your lift tickets online. Lift ticket availability is visible on resort websites’ winter lift ticket page. If lift tickets are sold out on a specific day at a specific resort, that day will show as unavailable. If lift tickets are sold out on your desired day, secure your lift access with an Epic Day Pass and save up to 65% off lift tickets depending on the level of resort access you chose to purchase. Epic Day Pass can be purchased at EpicPass.com until passes go off sale for the season. If a specific day at a specific resort sells out online, lift tickets will not be sold at resort ticket windows unless purchased with a Pass Holder benefit ticket (Buddy tickets or Ski With A Friend tickets) or through ski and ride school. Availability will be updated online if there are any lit ticket cancellations. Lodging reservations do not provide any guarantee of lift access. Guests are encouraged to purchase lift access as soon as possible, either through a pass (including an Epic Day Pass) for the best value – or by purchasing a lift ticket in advance. You should not wait until you are at the resort. If you already have a pass, there are no restrictions outside of any holiday restricted dates associated with your pass.

Face Coverings

Face coverings are not currently required in indoor settings, including Vail Resorts restaurants, restrooms, Vail Resorts lodging properties, retail and rental locations.  Face coverings are not currently required on Vail’s Gondolas – Gondola 1 not the Eagle Bahn Gondola.  Face coverings are not required on chairlifts at this time.

On Mountain Dining

Thanks to continued improvement in COVID-19 cases, proof of vaccination is no longer required for guests to dine at our indoor restaurants, effective Saturday, Mar. 12, 2022.

We strive to provide a variety of dining options for all of our guests who wish to dine with us. In order to accommodate the high volume of customers our restaurants serve, we ask you to observe the following dining policies:

  • All tables and seats will be available for present guests only. We ask that guests please do not hold tables.
  • All tables have a time limit of 45 minutes.
  • There is no storage of personal belongings in our restaurants or lodges unless in a designated locker or cubby area.
  • Catering or communal food for large groups is not permitted. Individuals and small groups are permitted to bring in their own food.
  • Holding multiple tables for large group dining and outside parties is not permitted.

Consider eating lunch in Vail Village or Lionshead as an option to on-mountain dining. We recommend making reservations to ensure you have a spot for the time desired.

Best pricing and availability is available online, in advance. Be aware that Ski & Ride School may be available on dates when lift tickets are unavailable. Book a lesson and add a discounted lift ticket at checkout! To book a group lesson within 24 hours or a private lesson within 48 hours, please visit one of our Ski & Snowboard sales locations or call ahead. Our cancellation policy is available here. If you or your child are picking up rental gear, arrive 60 minutes early.  Check-in for the lesson at the location or base area you selected while booking.  All group lessons will be sorted by ability level and child lessons will be sorted by age. The instructor will determine a plan for the day based on individual needs or group goals.  World-class instructors will help all participants have fun exploring more of the mountain by practicing new techniques at their own pace. All Full Day lessons will include a break for lunch, with food provided only for child lessons. If you are dropping off a child, make sure to confirm location and pick-up time. The instructor will provide a summary of their lesson and your child’s progress at pick-up.

Cleaning Enhancements

Hand sanitizing stations are provided throughout the resort. We are frequently using EPA-approved products that kill the COVID-19 virus on all of our high-touch surfaces and restrooms, and we are applying enhanced cleaning and disinfecting practices across our resort, including in our gondola cabins.

Employee Vaccinations & Screenings

Vail Resorts employees are required to have COVID-19 vaccinations for their safety and protection as well as the safety and protection of our guests and communities.  In addition, all employees are required to undergo daily health screenings, wear face coverings indoors, regularly wash their hands, and stay home if sick or feeling sick.
