Dashing through the snow on a horse drawn sleighride is a magical experience for a romantic evening or to be enjoyed by the whole family. Vail’s near-by winter sleigh rides take you through scenic alpine settings of forests and over glistening snow. Climb aboard a rustic sleighs for a scenic ride to a full dinner experience. Or if dinner isn’t on the schedule, enjoy a shorter scenic winter sleigh ride in one of our charming sleighs through the Colorado scenery.
WHEN TO GO
Horse-drawn sleigh rides run late November – Mid March, conditions permitting.
WHAT TO WEAR
Dress in warm layers, with snow pants and jacket, gloves, warm boots, hat, neck-gator/scarf and face protection (during the day).
Sleigh rides paired with drinks and dinner are available at two locations just a short drive from Vail. Advanced reservations are recommended.
4 EAGLE RANCH
Crisp mountain air, star-lit skies, and a horse-drawn sleigh all await you at 4 Eagle Ranch. A great choice for families looking for an authentic, western experience. Centered around the historic Nelson Cabin (ca. 1890), near Wolcott (about 20 miles west of Vail), the sleigh-ride experience is far from any city lights and offers incredible star-gazing. Choose to enjoy a warm drink before snuggling under cozy blankets for an unforgettable sleigh ride beneath wide open, star-lit skies. When you return, an authentic Colorado-style ranch dinner will be waiting for you with some of the finest cooking this side of the Continental Divide. Entertainment from the resident cowboy singer serenades you while you roast marshmallows around the open-hearth fire. Kids especially love the latter!
We invite you to Bearcat Stables and a tour of our historic grounds via Horse and Sleigh while sipping on your favorite beverage. Our knowledgeable team drivers will give you the history of the land and make your journey unforgettable. We offer two sleigh ride options: Apres -ski sleigh rides depart every 30 minutes (3:00 – 4:30) or sleigh rides with dinner with two seatings at 5:30pm and 7:30pm. Bring your camera because you will want to take pictures of these majestic 2000 pound horses.
