Ice skating in the Vail Valley looks and feels like something out of a movie. Many of the ice rinks are situated in the middle of the village, surrounded by galleries, shops, cafes, restaurants and fire pits. Each ice rink has its own feel, some being more intimate than others.
Arrabelle Square Ice Rink
Lionshead’s Alderhof Ice Rink at The Arrabelle at Vail Square, is the type of rink that will make adults will feel like kids again with twinkling lights!
Solaris Plaza Skating
Vail Village’s Solaris Ice Rink allows visitors to enjoy skating in center of Vail village with its spectacular panoramic views of Vail ski mountain.

And lastly, for a larger indoor ice rink in Vail, the Dobson Ice Arena is open year-round and features public skating, private lessons, hockey, bumper-cars. At 35,000-square-feet, Dobson Ice Arena is one of the largest multi-purpose ice facilities on Colorado’s Western Slope. For the recreational skater, Dobson Ice Arena hosts open skating sessions for all ages and abilities.
On Wednesdays, children can enjoy free story hour at the Town of Vail Library at 10 a.m. and pair it with skating at Dobson Ice Arena at 11 a.m. Story Time Skate includes for skates and instruction. Ages: 2-5
Public ice for hockey players to practice their skills. Goals and pucks provided. Helmet required. Rental equipment is not available.
Check out the newest craze with Ice Bumper Cars at Dobson Ice Arena, an exciting activity that’s fun for the whole family! Ice Bumper Cars offer an opportunity for children and adults to zoom around, spin and bump their way to a good time. Participants must be at least 48 inches tall to drive. Rides are $10 per person and include a 15-minute bumper car ride experience.
