Vail Valley Foundation adds Kayak Cross and YETI Speed Camp to 2025 GoPro Mountain Games

Partner Release from Vail Valley Foundation

Vail, Colo., March 27, 2025 — Today, the Vail Valley Foundation announced the addition of two new events to the 2025 GoPro Mountain Games lineup in Vail June 5-8. The Kayak Cross will replace the 8-Ball Kayak Sprint, offering competitors the chance to show off their whitewater skills with a kayak slalom on Gore Creek where contact is allowed! The YETI Speed Camp will enable climbers to level up their game by getting tips and tricks from some of the world’s top speed climbing athletes and coaches.

“We are always looking for ways to enhance the experience for our competitors and spectators, and these new events do exactly that,” said Peggy Wolfe, senior director of operations for the Vail Valley Foundation. “The kayak competition will give whitewater athletes another thrilling race platform, while the YETI Speed Camp will offer climbing enthusiasts an exclusive opportunity to learn from the best. Speed climbing is gaining tremendous momentum in the outdoor sports world, and we’re excited to be celebrating this incredible discipline.”

Other events that will debut at the 2025 GoPro Mountain Games include YETI Speed Climbing competitions, where athletes compete side-by-side and scale a 15-meter wall at lightning speed, and the Vail Ultra Benefiting 50 For the Fallen, a challenging 50-mile mixed-terrain ultramarathon, with proceeds supporting the nonprofit that works to connect veterans with mental health resources.
