Early Winter & Holiday Season Events

The Early Winter & Holiday Seasons come to life starting opening day, all the way through Christmas and beyond New Years. The celebration and festivities will surprise and delight you after a day on the slopes or enjoying one of the many winter adventures in Vail.

Revely Vail: Nov. 12 – Dec. 12
Vail’s Welcome to the Brilliance of Winter returns this winter as a celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday season and an official kick-off of the 2021-2022 season at Vail. Revely Vail will include the kick-off celebration to many winter traditions including Vail Après, Silent Disco, Ice Skating Exhibits and a tree lighting celebration with other programing woven in. 


Magic of Lights: November 19 – January 5

A family-friendly, winter lighting walkthrough experience, offering locals and destination guests alike a memorable, outdoor activity to complement their Vail experience. Set in the Ford Park Lower Bench and Betty Ford Alpine Gardens area, the half-mile walking loop features an array of majestic lighting displays, made from half a million individual low-impact LED lights, creating a winter wonderland and underlining the natural beauty of the surrounding area.


Vail Snow Days: December 2-5

Kick off the winter season with 4-days of live entertainment including 2-nights of headliner concerts with Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and Dierks Bentley, a lively festival village and more on and off the mountain!


Powabunga Music Festival: December 9-12

3 days of music and on mountain activities, an immersive experience just outside of Vail Village in Ford Park with performances by Rufus Du Sol, Bob Moses (club set), Vintage Culture, Channel Tres, N2N, Gavlak, Julia Sandstorm and MORE!


Vail Holidays: December 12-31

The winter holidays are a magical time of year in Vail, with complimentary outdoor, socially distanced programs and activities for all ages


Vail Après: Daily at 4pm

After a day of adventure, join in on the second awakening of our quaint alpine villages as bells ring to signify the start of Vail’s après ski.


15th Annual Winterfest: December 19 until the ice melts

Guests are invited to wander through a whimsical ice installation designed by celebrated visual artist Olive Moya with the support of the talented local team at Alpine Ice. Illumination begins daily at dusk and lasts until 10 p.m. On view until the ice melts!  Experience the Grand Opening on December 19th from 4:30pm –  6pm with illuminated lanterns, festive music, complimentary hot chocolate, and lots of glow. Artists Olive Moya and Paul Wertin will be present along with other special guests. Don’t miss the first night of this celebration of light! Free and family – friendly.  Located in Vail Village at the International Bridge & Gore Creek Promenade.


Free Lantern Workshops: December 19 & Create Your Own Lantern: December 12 – 26

Take part in our free lantern workshops at the Vail Public Library.  Three one-hour paper lantern workshops are available with Alpine Arts Center. Space is limited per workshop and participants must be registered in advance. Reservation required to or 970-479-2344.

In addition, a limited supply of complimentary lantern kits will be available at the Vail Village Welcome Center Dec. 12 – 26. Create your own lantern through a virtual demonstration with Alpine Arts Center. Then, display your lantern on the designated shepherd hooks on the International Bridge for all to enjoy or on social media. #artinvail @discovervailco @vailgov.
