What to Know & Bring Hiking
Weather: Weather in Colorado can change quickly, so being prepared is the name of the (high-altitude) game. Many afternoons, temperatures will drop and storms move in quickly, so dressing in quick-dry layers and packing along a rain jacket is essential even if the sun is shining (wool and shell layers are great).
Gear: Proper-fitting shoes and socks are critical to avoiding blisters.
Hydrate: Pack more water than you need! Hydrating at elevation (the Villages rest at 8,150’) will help you avoid headaches and altitude sickness.
Leave no Trace: Leave what you find, don’t litter, stay on the trail and other tips will help you to protect our trails and wildlife.
