Join the Walking Mountain Science Center

Free nature tours, guided by one of our naturalists, trained in interpretive education. Explore Vail’s hiking trails and learn about the surrounding flora and fauna along the way with Walking Mountain Science Center at the Nature Discovery Center. Hop on the Eagle Bahn Gondola and take a scenic ride up to The Nature Discovery Center on Vail Mountain. There, you can embark on a free guided nature walk with one of the guides, or stick around for a free interpretive nature talk given by an expert naturalist. You’ll get even more out of your day hike, as you learn about summer ecology and animal adaptations while taking in the majestic mountain views.

Easy Guided Nature Hike – Wednesday – Sunday, 1:00pm – 2:00pm

Join a Naturalist for an educational hike through the forest atop Vail Mountain. Most ages and abilities, FREE

Moderate Guided Nature Hike – Wednesday – Sunday 10:30 am – noon

For those looking for a more adventurous time, join us for a more 2-mile guided hike to explore the mountain eco-system. Ages 12+, FREE.

Note:  All visitors must purchase a Scenic Gondola Ride Ticket (or have a valid lift ticket/season pass in winter months) order to ride the gondola.
